Optimism

Optimism... it's a good thing, right?  I thought so for a long time, but then I had a stretch of bad things happening to and around me.  Would I have been better prepared for the negative feelings if I had expected and anticipated them?  Would I have been less disappointed?  I thought about this for a while.  I have people around me who are not optimists.  I might even say I have a pessimist or two around.  Were they less disappointed?  No... negativity ruled their days.

Then I saw this link from Huffington Post.  Optimism wins :o)

Resurrection

I'm in new and unfamiliar territory.  I'm starting over on many fronts, and I'm resurrecting my old blog to help me along.

It started as an assignment for my MLIS degree.  Then it morphed into a place to keep track of books that I'd read.  Then it just ... stopped.

So here we are again.  Where are we going?  I'm not sure, but we can go together.

Book Reviews

As I am still seeking a paying library job, I am trying to keep up (and catch up) on some kidlit and good YA books in my "free" time. I plan to keep a log and review them as I go, both for my own skills and for reference in the future. Tonight, though, I have a backlog. I'm just going to post titles, and come back later to review them. Here goes, in reverse order:

Kira-Kira
2005 Newbery Winner by Cynthia Kadohata

Specials
"Final" book of the Uglies trilogy by Scott Westerfeld

Pretties
Book 2 of the Uglies trilogy by Scott Westerfeld

Hmm...Blogger seems to not like my formatting. It keeps getting messed up. I guess I'll do more posts later.
